Audition Intensive with Stephen Kopel
CD ROUNDABOUT THEATRE CO., JIM CARNAHAN CASTING, & ENCORES!
This musical theatre audition class will be an in depth investigation into your relationship to your
songs, who you are inside your story telling, and what lands and what doesn’t, as seen through the lens of this superb casting director.
Each participant will prepare two 32 bar cuts in two of the following genres:
Contemporary Musical Theatre, Standard Musical Theatre or Pop/Rock
and will sing and work creatively with Stephen, take adjustments and sing again.
Together you’ll choose one song to work in depth for the remainder of the class.
Stephen Kopel currently serves as casting director for Roundabout Theatre Company, Jim Carnahan Casting and Encores! Off-Center. Broadway credits include: Beautiful, Noises Off, She Loves Me, On the Twentieth Century, Violet, Beautiful-The Carole King Musical, The Winslow Boy, The Glass Menagerie, The Mystery Of Edwin Drood, Harvey, Don’t Dress for Dinner, Once, The Road to Mecca, On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, Anything Goes, The People in the Picture, Brief Encounter, The Scottsboro Boys, Sondheim on Sondheim, Hedda Gabler. His off-Broadway credits include Invisible Thread (upcoming), Indian Ink, Lennon: Through a Glass Onion, The Common Pursuit, The Milktrain Doesn’t Stop Here Anymore, The Tin Pan Alley Rag, Once, and The Scottsboro Boys. Regional credits include productions for Williamstown Theatre Festival, American Repertory Theater, Berkeley Rep, the Guthrie Theater, North Carolina Theatre, Denver Center Theatre Company, Ford’s Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Hartford Stage, Marriott Lincolnshire, Bay Street Theatre, and The Old Globe. He is a three time recipient of the Casting Society of America's Artios Award, for excellence in casting.
